Earthquakes: Horrors of the earth
Earthquake is one of the significant destructive and dramatic catastrophes of the world. There is no warning ahead of a natural earthquake; it creates significant destruction along with taking the lives of humans. Along with it, it even gives some long-term effects for communities and their associated ecosystems. What are the causes of earthquakes ?
Mostly, it is a sudden release of energy in the earth’s crust, mainly from plate movement. The Earth’s crust is made of huge, floating plates that hover upon the relatively liquid mantle underneath. Those plates move along sometimes very smoothly past each other and, at other times, get jammed and set to tension. When pressure gets too high, those plates move suddenly. It also sends out the energy it holds as a wave of ground itself that is called earthquake waves.
