Nishan-e-Haider : Pakistan’s Greatest Military Honour

Nishan-e-Haider is Pakistan’s highest military honor. It is conferred upon the soldiers who have done acts of conspicuous valour and self-sacrifice in the presence of the enemy. The nomenclature of this distinction is a name drawn from the companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), HAZRAT Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), whose bravery and boldness are matched by few in history.

History and Significance

The Nishan-e-Haider Award was instituted way back in 1957 and is awarded posthumously to a soldier who has exhibited extraordinary bravery and sacrifices. This award is our nation's way of thanking and showing respect for the ultimate sacrifice rendered by our brave soldiers.
